Back Up!
Yes, the blog was down. Thanks to those who emailed to let Me know.
My hosting company migrated to new servers and apparently changed the name of the MySQL database by one letter. That fucked it all up, which is why you got the message “Can’t connect to database.”
I’m looking forward to getting to know the new software on the server. It uses CPanel now, which my hosting company resisted for awhile. I think the geek code says CPanel isn’t geeky enough, but I’m not entirely sure. So now I’ve got a lot more control over everything, which is cool, but kind of overwhelming.
I have switched hosts a number of times, but once I found these guys, I stayed with them. Recommended by a friend after a lot of nightmares at other companies (servers always down, companies going out of business overnight with no warning, etc.) and I’ve never been sorry. So if you’re looking for GOOD hosting at a fair price with excellent customer service and tech support, let Me know. I get a free month I think if I send them a customer. You know I always like a deal. It’s the Scottish in Me.
So, if you’re wondering about what I use: My computers are ALL Macs. I’ve never owned a non-Mac, and I have a collection. They all still work great, and I can’t bear to toss them out.
The servers are Unix all the way! Yeah. NEVER EVER use a Windows server or you’ll be sorry. Those are not secure and much easier to hack than Unix. Just a tip.
So now I can make My own subdomains, which I may play around with. Expect the url of this blog to change once again! Yes indeed.
Happy Labor Day, I know, I know I owe some blogs. ahhhhhhhh. I had to deal with this server stuff first.
